Broadcom brings 650Mbit / s speed for smartphones with wifi-ac-chip

Broadcom has a wifi chip for mobile devices announced which theoretically speeds up to 650Mbit / s can be achieved. The BCM4358 uses the 802.11ac technology, according to the manufacturer the fastest chip available for mobile phones.

The advent of fast wifi chip for mobile phones was Broadcom on its website revealed . According to the manufacturer, the chip especially designed for use in high-end smartphones and tablets, though there is still no information on manufacturers who are interested. The chip has been named BCM4358 and is based on the 802.11ac Wi-Fi protocol. This enables Broadcom theoretical speeds of up to 650Mbit / s to be achieved, according to the manufacturer twice rapper than the current fastest Wi-chips for smartphones and tablets.

Mobile devices equipped with the BCM4358 also need to perform better as wifi and bluetooth turned on simultaneously. Interference both wireless technologies can affect each other’s performance. This interference is the BCM4358 is reduced by 50 percent, though it is not clear where the manufacturer it compares itself. The wifi chip should also allow precise localization possible with a deviation that is approximately one meter.

According to Broadcom, the new Wi-Fi chip already in production, the first mobile devices with the BCM4358 later this quarter. Which products are exactly is not yet known.
