Canon introduces video camera that shoots color images in near-darkness
Canon has announced ME20F-SH, a camera that can shoot color images in circumstances where there is little light. According to Canon, which works to 0.0005 lux, allowing the camera to an equivalent of 4 million iso movie can shoot.
The manufacturer made the advent of the camera on Thursday, as reported several media including DP Review. The ME20F-SH has a cubical housing and can be coupled with lenses from the EF and EF-S mount. But most striking is the sensitivity of the camera. As a basis chose a CMOS sensor 2.26 megapixels with a pixel size of 19μm: which is about 5.5 times greater than a high-end SLR. The shot images are otherwise in 1080p and with a maximum frame rate of 60 frames per second.
With the large pixels, the camera extremely light sensitive. According to Canon video can be shot in situations where it is almost completely dark. The specifications indicate that the border is 0.0005 lux. Converted shoot the camera images with an ISO sensitivity of 4 million. Furthermore ME20F-SH output is via HDMI and microphones can be connected via a 2,5mm- or 3.5mm jack. Also, there is an RS-422 port for connection of accessories.
