Canon shows portable VR viewer with ‘2k resolution per eye’




Canon at an event in New York shows a device for displaying virtual reality video. Unlike most headsets, users should not wear on their head but themselves hold. The resolution would ‘2k per eye’ amounts.

Canon Fri-thing The device on his Canon Expo showed is square and has two handles at the bottom that allows users to hold the display. The portion that the user must keep his head against includes two lenses and an edge that allow the passage of ambient light is prevented. There would be three lens elements per eye.

Uploadvr reports Canon showed a demonstration video of five minutes, shot with an array of Canon cameras. On one of the images that have been published is a schematic view of the VR-camera system to see with six lenses. The video would be streamed with a resolution of 5600×2800 pixels, and there would be no positional head tracking are used. Furthermore, says the site users did not mention the screen resolution of 2560×1440 pixels per eye, but it is possible that the screen had that resolution. Further details about the device are not there yet, and Canon has officially nothing about reported.
