Find a Question:
Cataclysm Nexus 6 Changes in stock ROM only necessary files
The developer of the Cataclysm-ROMs, on the forum of XDA-Developers reported that it has managed to provide only modified files and installation instead of a full ROM. This allows stock-Android firmware are converted to Cataclysm-ROM without having to drop in.
To install a Cataclysm-ROM, was until recently an entire firmware to be flashed, something with the Cataclysm-mod is no longer needed, writes atl4ntis on the xda forum. The mod is just a little over 30MB large zip which only overwrites the files that are actually updated in the Android Open Source Project, or AOSP.
This is the goal that brought the developer began his project. In a forum post from 2014 he does in the paintings what he wants to achieve, namely, “do not fix what is not broken.” It was only necessary to establish small files suit to make AOSP features, allowing Cataclysm did only nine such files to differ from the stock ROM of the device.
With this new Cataclysm edition, only the files that need to be modified, copied the files to be at no custom firmware. This Cataclysm updates are now comparable with small delta updates. Users can in the recovery of their device the zip file on the standard firmware flashing around without a wipe is needed.
Atl4ntis gives a list of examples of the benefits of the Cataclysm his Mod, such as large files, no issues with deodexing more, only focus on code and features, bug proof because only some files are modified to more quickly update, partly because there are no more betas are needed more quickly and more devices that are supported. This first edition is for the Nexus 6 and firmware only supports permissive kernels. Support for the Nexus 6p and 5x must soon follow.Viewing:-146
