CBS: mobile subscriptions and prepaid are dropped in price last three years

Mobile subscriptions and prepaid in recent years have become significantly cheaper in the Netherlands. That the Central Bureau of Statistics calculated. In less than three years, there was on average a quarter of the price.

CBS mentions no absolute prices, but mentions only a price index, the value of January 2010 is 100. Initially, services for mobile phones more expensive, but prices fall since the spring of 2013. Among the services means the CBS subscriptions with mobile internet, no mobile internet subscriptions and prepaid.

The statistics bureau mentions no cause for the falling prices, but in recent years the competition in the mobile market has increased with the advent of Tele2 as a fourth mobile operator with its own network in the Netherlands. In addition, more and more people decided to buy loose the phone and subscription, allowing more and more people are cheaper SIM-only subscriptions, which thereby became more numerous in recent years.

Where mobile services were cheaper, increased fixed call just firmly in price. Meanwhile, the prices are on average one-quarter higher than six years ago. Many people will not notice it, because in the meantime a majority of households combining multiple services in one package. Their prices on average rose by 9 percent.

CBS is based on the prices applied by suppliers and buys a basket of goods and services to determine the average prices. The baskets of the CBS are the basis for the calculation of the inflation.
