Cell phones today are celebrating its fortieth anniversary

In today’s technological world is difficult to find a person who does not have a cell phone or smartphone. They are used by all the children, middle-aged and elderly. And this is not surprising, because the cell phones – this is the quickest and easiest way to contact the person, being almost anywhere in our world. The surprise of the public, these devices start to call in 1973.

It was then, 40 years ago, April 3, the then engineer at Motorola Martin Cooper made the first ever phone that allowed him to call standing on Sixth Avenue in New York Joel Engel, working in a competing company Bell Labs. Just imagine what a surprise it was Engel, when Cooper asked – “Guess where I’m calling?”, Said that he is calling from this portable cell phone. That this call was the start of a new era of portable handsets.

Martin Cooper later recalled:

“I do not remember what he had said, but I thought I heard his teeth scrapie.”

In the 80 years Cooper left Motorola, started his own telephone company and later became a very rich man.

Then the phones were not what it is now. First mobile phone weighed more than a kilogram and with difficulty lies in a large inner pocket of his jacket. The phone began to shrink in size. The current model of the same device, it seems, decided to reverse history, though, and continuing to decrease in thickness and weight, but increasing the amount due to the large touch screens.
