CERT.be: number of cyber incidents doubled in 2013




In 2013 CERT.be, received the Belgian federal cyber emergency team, 6678 reports of companies, governments and organizations on cyber incidents, such as a malware thing or a DDoS attack. That is double compared to the previous year.

CERT.be says get. monthly average of 339 cyber incidents per month within Of the 6678 total of 4070 reports were specifically mention. About 22 percent of these reports were viruses and worms, followed by scanning incidents with a share of 20 percent. When scanning incidents search cybercriminals weaknesses in the security of servers and databases.

Other things that come regularly CERT.be are infected web servers, phishing and spam. Furthermore, last year 521 970 automatic notifications on infected computers were received. In many cases, systems that are part of a botnet.

The Belgian cyber emergency team also reports that the number of DDoS attacks increases. Doing so are increasingly using so-called amplification attacks.
