China aims to double its patents three times by 2020




China aims to double the number of patents submitted by by 2020, three times, with Beijing seeking to promote high-tech economy in many areas, such as agriculture and pharmaceuticals, according to a notice from the central government on Sunday.

By 2020, China has set itself the goal that there will be 14 patents per 10,000 residents, compared with four patents in 2013.

China has published 629 612 patents in 2013, which increased by more than 200,000 from the United States, according to a study published by Thomson Reuters company in December / last December.

Beijing is seeking to become a major player in high-tech industries at a time when the country is facing a slowdown in growth and a rise in the costs of its industrial base.

Beijing is also looking to reduce the length of the review of patents and trademark applications process. Where he will cut reviewing patents to 20.2 months in 2020 to 22.3 months from the time in 2013, while the fall review brands to 9 months from 10 months.
