Chinese manufacturer comes with thinnest smartphone so far




The Chinese manufacturer Gionee the thinnest smartphone presented so far. The Elife S5.5 is 5.5 mm thick, almost 0.7 mm thinner than the thinnest device that is now for sale in Dutch shops, the Huawei Ascend P6.

The Gionee Elife S5.5 despite its thinness a 2300mAh battery and the bezels were limited: on both sides around 3.5 mm across, to the top and bottom is about 1.5 cm. The phone measures 142x69mm and is slightly larger than, for example, the Nexus 5 . With 5.5 mm, it is thinner than 6.18 mm from the Huawei Ascend P6 and 5.75 mm from the Vivo X3.

The phone runs on an unnamed octacore processor with a maximum clock speed of 1.7 GHz, presumably it is a MediaTek-soc. The first version that comes out, does not have 4G, but there should be a version that does support it in June. The phone has a 13MP camera on the back and a 5MP cam on the front.

The screen is of an unknown type and unknown resolution and 5 “wide. The phone comes first in China and later in forty other countries not mentioned further, claiming Engadget., the price is 270 euros converted.
