Chip designer Imagination provides developers board of dual-core MIPS-soc




British chip designer Imagination has called Creator CI20 a cheap developers board released based on a 1.2GHz MIPS processor. The ‘Raspberry Pi competitor’, according Imagination standard Debian 7 and Android 4.4 running.

The sign of the Creator CI20 measuring 90,2×95,3mm. The CI20 contains Ingenic JZ4780-soc which is clocked at 1.2 GHz. The processor contains two cores and a PowerVR SGX 540 GPU, and is built using the 32bit MIPS architecture. The board also contains 1GB DDR3 memory and 8GB NAND flash memory. The storage is expandable via an SD or microSD card.

The CI20 can find two USB 2.0 ports, one of which is suitable for USB on-the-go, and a 100Mbit Ethernet connection. Also, a chip 802.11n WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 placed on the mother board. Further, the CI20 25 GPIO ports, two SPI buses, infrared and an HDMI connector. There is a 5V adapter to power the development board.

According Imagination developers can directly Android 4.4 or Debian 7 boot from the internal flash memory or an SD card. Other Linux variants run, including Gentoo and Arch yocto. The CI20 gets a price tag of £ 50, converted 63 euros.
