Chromecast Audio getting support for multi-room streaming

Google has introduced an update to its Chrome Cast Audio media player. Because of the update, it is possible to broadcast the same stream to different Chromecast-Audio players within the same network. There is also support for 96kHz / 24bit lossless audio.

That requires Google on its Chrome blog. The multi-room option is in addition to streaming the same stream to all Chromecast audio dongles also possible to arrange several of the devices into separate groups. The update also ensures that users offer files in lossless format can also be played like that. In this case, up to 96KHz / 24-bit.

Chromecast Audio is available since end of September and consists of a round device with a 3.5mm jack to connect to a speaker or amplifier. The player supports various streaming services such as Spotify, Pandora and Google Play Music. The app carries version number 1:13:13 and was issued on December 9.
