Chromecast gets 4K Ultra and HDR support and Ethernet adapter




Google announced a new version of its Chromecast. The Ultra comes in addition to existing models on the market and is a more expensive version with support for 4K resolutions and HDR rendering. The accessory will cost 79 euros and is available from November 8.

According to Google supports the new not only Chromecast higher resolutions and HDR, but videos will be also charged 1.8 times faster than the previous version. Like the previous Chromecast devices, the Ultra model wifi but Google provides an adapter with it which makes it possible to connect a network cable.

Chromecast Ultra can work with Google Home. The speaker that is equipped with voice recognition and Google Assistant can be used by means of voice commands to control the Chromecast.

Initially, there can be streamed 4K and HDR content from Netflix, YouTube and Vudu, later to follow support for more services. Google says its own Play Movies & TV with 4K content later this year.

Google remains cheaper Chromecast supports up to Full HD and sell the Chromecast Audio beside the new Ultra model. In the Netherlands the Chromecast Ultra from November 8 on sale for a suggested retail price of 79 euros.
