Chromium Cast: Streaming from local media with Avia is no joy

Google’s Streaming Stick Cast Chrome opens a bit. It has new apps approved that dominate also the streaming of local media. So I can get pictures, videos and music from my smartphone on the big TV, alternatively, it is possible with the approved Google App Avia, content from Facebook, Dropbox , Picasa, and even network storage such as the Synology reproduce NAS on the TV and so the to use your smartphone as a remote control.

TV with Chrome Cast

Of course I bought the app equal concern and also the in-app option to be able to send content to my Chrome Cast. I know that there a lot of developers to develop good solutions to send and local content to Chrome Cast – Google decided to work with Avia. The app has been disappointing in my test. The miserable translation and appearance that is reminiscent of a warez site from 1995? Do we want to look away times about it.

Play local video from the network or what? When she ran for times at all, only for eternal waiting time, with non-function in coils or with incredibly many dropouts. Play back photos from your smartphone to the TV? Have fun with about 10-15 seconds of waiting time per photo. The fact that Google an app not even advance a little checked, is beyond me. On my network, it is not, I have tested several clients that all run without errors.

The fact that not only do I have such problems, is evident from the reviews in the Play Store from Google. Actually, I was trying out good things, you can tell by the streaming of local media on Chrome Cast by Avia, now I can not just write that you shall either leave it alone, alternatively burns the $ 2.99 for the Chrome Cast support. As an alternative I could also call Plex, but here the paid Plex pass is needed to stream on Chrome Cast can. Schade – Google, there must come more. Let ran developers who have Bock it and make no half-baked stories.
