Cisco will lay off nearly twenty percent of its employees
Cisco Network Company insiders will lay off nearly twenty percent of its employees, which would amount to 9,000 to 14,000 employees. The company would like to focus more on hardware instead of software.
Cisco logo (45 pix) CRN reported , based on anonymous sources that expect that Cisco will announce the layoffs within the next few weeks. A source tells the site that the company ‘other skills needed for a future software around. It would also have been made with employees agreements on early retirement. The layoffs would be the largest in the 32-year history of the company, which has about 73,000 employees. It is unclear whether that new employees will be adopted. Cisco has not yet comment on the news.
Cisco in June Cloud Lock acquired for an amount equivalent to 265 million euros. That company is specialized in security infrastructure between enterprises and cloud services.
In 2014, scrapped Cisco already 6,000 jobs at the time were cited as reason disappointing results and increasing competition. Also in 2013 were dismissals at the company; when 4,000 jobs were deleted. The motivation was that sales in Japan, China and Europe had come under pressure. In previous years there were reorganizations.
