CoDrone wants youngsters to learn programming drones with DIY kit and software tool
The American company Codrone has put together a kit for a drone, which can then be programmed by young people, for example, they make people follow or let the conflict. Users must set the controller itself together.
The CoDrone package that shows the company at CES, taking young people as much as possible on hand to get started with the drone program and get it mastered. It consists of a small drone with dimensions of 133x133mm and weight of 37 grams. The quadcopter has three-axis gyroscope, accelerometer, optical sensor and pressure sensor.
Also infrared present, especially to programming games where drones together can ‘shoot’. The drone can remain eight minutes in the air and travel nearly fifty meters. Users must set the controller itself together using include an Arduino-compatible board, joysticks and a battery pack. Furthermore CoDrone provides a Bluetooth module and USB cable with it.
The focus is on programming the drone. The company has a Unity software tool developed with a graphical interface to make programming easy. In the online documentation and videos the company gives further instructions what young people should do some actions, which Arduino- integrated development environment is used. The steps go from a beginner level to expert. So youngsters can learn how to develop a flight plan for the CoDrone, how can the drone certain movements, people can follow and may other drones ‘shoot’ using the IR sensor.
The drone is fully dismantled and can also be equipped with wheels to make a moving vehicle. CoDrone wants to raise money through Kickstarter to the delivery in March start. The price for the first class is 139 dollar amounts but early backers receive a discount.
