crossplay for Diablo III on consoles is a matter of time

A Blizzard employee said in an interview that crossplay between consoles within Diablo III is a matter of time. That game will be released on November 2 for the Switch console from Nintendo, after having appeared on many other platforms.

“It’s a question of when, not if”, Business Insider quotes a Blizzard employee during a gameplay demo of Diablo III on the Switch. According to that employee, the company is currently working with Microsoft and Sony to enable crossplay with the Switch. At this moment, however, nothing concrete could be announced. Diablo III will be released on November 2 for the Switch console in an edition that also includes the extensions of the game.

The game is now available on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, after having already appeared for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Crossplay within the same game on consoles is not self-evident and sometimes has many feet in the earth, according to the example of Fortnite. It was only recently that Sony made it possible to play the game together with owners of the Xbox One and the Switch. The company had resisted for a long time.

The Japanese company then said that it would also make this feature available to other games. Previously , Bethesda seemed to put pressure on Sony by stating that cross-play with his card game The Elder Scrolls: Legends would not be negotiable. The Bethesda game Fallout 76 does not get a crossplay , as it turned out recently.
