Crucial Announces BX200-SSDs with tlc memory




Crucial brings three SSDs in the new BX200 line out. These are models with 240GB, 480GB and 960GB storage capacities. The 2.5 “drives from the manufacturer are built around Micron 16nm TLC memory.

The BX200 series follow the BX100-line and among other things is now used to produce 16nm TLC instead of MLC-NAND memory. The controller is the Silicon Motion SM2256, a controller with support for tlc memory which was announced mid-year.

The CT240BX200SSD1, CT480BX200SSD1 and CT960BX200SSD1 respectively 240GB, 480GB and 960GB offer read and write speeds of respectively 540 and 490MB / s. The ‘4k random read’- and’ 4k random write’ speeds are 66,000 and 78,000 IOPS respectively.

The drives must compete according to the manufacturer with the SanDisk SSD Plus, SanDisk Ultra II and the Kingston V300 SSD’s. Europe uses Crucial for 240GB-, 480GB- and 960GB-SSD’s suggested retail prices of respectively 92.39, 161.99 and 325.19 euros.
