Curiosity shows images of sand dunes on Mars

The Curiosity rover is after a long journey we arrived at the so-called Bagnold dunes on Mars. There are images of shot and NASA hopes to do research into the composition of the dunes, which are located near a large mountain.

Mars NASA images online put taken by Curiosity with the so-called Mastcam. The pictures are clear to see the wrinkled surface of the dunes. According to the space agency, the images shot on November 27, but it took some time before the data were returned and analyzed.

The sand dunes are located near Mount Sharp, a relatively big mountain with a height of approximately 5.5 kilometers. The idea is that Curiosity is going to move into the future direction of the higher reaches of the mountain, to do further research there. The dunes, which are named after the Englishman Ralph Alger Bagnold, collected samples and who wants to analyze NASA in the future.

Curiosity drives for several years around on Mars and scientists with many insights about the composition of the planet. One of the most spectacular finds was the recent discovery of what is believed to liquid water. There were, moreover, found earlier traces of liquid water.
