Find a Question:
Cyber Security Council will ‘digital proficiency certificate’ for students
The Cyber Security Council recommends a digital proficiency certificate for students. To allow students more substantive luggage in the field of ICT and digital security should teachers be trained by ICT professionals.
The opinion of the CSR to the State Secretaries of Security and Justice and Education, Culture and Science is Monday appeared. According to the report, the digital future will be secured from the Netherlands. That would be done by ensuring sufficient digital security professionals and by preparing the youth for the ‘digital future’. To achieve this, the Board proposes that pupils in primary education have to obtain a digital proficiency certificate. This would enable them to move safely in the digital domain. The ‘internet diplomas should also pay attention to legal and moral limits on the Internet, so that children learn how far they can go and what the risks of violating these rules.
According to the CSR, it is important that teachers in primary and higher education shall be able to understand myself when it comes to. Teachers must be professionalized in the field of digital literacy and cybersecurity. ICT professionals could help in this by teachers ‘coaching’. With digital literacy CSR refers to the combination of basic ICT skills, computational thinking, information literacy and media literacy. The approach of the existing initiatives in the field of digital literacy would be insufficiently aligned and digital security aspects are often overlooked, an omission that the Netherlands can not afford, says the CSR.
The opinion also noted a shortage of well-educated young people who have to apply to the rapidly growing demand for digital security experts. Currently it is mainly a lack of quality, but in the longer term is also expecting a quantitative deficit. The CSR recommends greater transparency in the provision of training, jobs and career opportunities. Students currently would often not know which study prepares them specifically to the features that are offered.
The CSR is an independent advisory body that provides asked and unasked advice to the government regarding digital security. The presidency is held by Dick Schoof, national coordinator for counter-terrorism and security, and KPN CEO Eelco Blok.Viewing:-132
