Danish company is seeking damages of Popcorn Time Users




A group of Danish users of Popcorn Time has received a letter in which they are ordered to pay compensation. A Danish entertainment company wants to see money from streaming the film And So It Goes and other content.

It writes the Danish DR. A law firm has sent letters to several hundred Danes containing the claim for damages. Letter recipients are accused of illegally having watched movies with the popular service Popcorn Time, including the film And So It Goes. The Danish division of Scanbox, the media company that has the rights to the film, the IP addresses has overtaken people who streamed the movie, and wants to see money from them.

The letter talks about a compensation of 2,200 Danish kroner converted almost 300 euros. Are threatened with legal action if the letter recipients do not pay. In that case, a significantly higher amount of compensation demanded. It is unclear whether there are people who have paid the proposed compensation.

Previously already two persons in Denmark were arrested because they gave an explanation on how to use Popcorn Time, although she had not linkten to copyrighted material. Because Popcorn Time is considered illegal, the two Danes suspected of “serious economic and international crimes.
