Darpa allows operation of first bionic arm to see




It has something futuristic, a bionic arm. Especially if there are video images emerge from volunteers that such arms are to testing. US defense organization Darpa this week showed that bionic arms are not far off for consumers.

The images show how volunteers without arms of the Revolutionizing Prosthetics program Darpa include grab a ball and pass it to each other. In addition, they hold a plastic bottle and open it later. One of the men who use the bionic arm, even missing both arms.

The first bionic arm is already a time. Last year approved the US Food and Drug Administration the device still good, which meant that it may be sold commercially. The prosthesis was developed by Deka Research and Development and was named Luke, a reference to Luke Skywalker and his arm prosthesis from Star Wars. Darpa experimenting now continue with the device.

Volunteers who want to use the bionic arm, connecting the device to existing muscles of the arm was amputated. The system is modular in design, so people can get even with a partially amputated arm prosthesis. The prosthesis reads electrical signals emitted by the muscles that control who moves to be made.
