Deezer music catalog extends out to 40 million tracks

Deezer music catalog has been expanded to 40 million songs. This service, together with Groove Music the largest selection of all music streaming services. Deezer also announced 100 million euros it has received new investment money.

Spotify and Apple Music advertise a catalog of over 30 million songs, Google Play Music claims to have 35 million tracks. Deezer also advertised until recently with 35 million songs, but now claims the offer expanded to have a total of 40 million songs. Microsoft also says his Groove Music Service, the former Xbox Music, has 40 million tracks. What new tracks or artists have been added Deezer is not known. As with competing services a subscription costs 9.99 euros per month.

Deezer says further the supply of spoken content to have expanded to more than forty thousand radio shows, audiobooks and podcasts. Besides music and text Deezer also offers live football record of English leagues with premium sports. The service was the sports commentary in December 2015 available in fourteen countries including the Netherlands and Belgium.

The amount of 100 million comes from the investment company Access Industries, in collaboration with telecom provider Orange. With the newly acquired funds will attract more users worldwide, Deezer and bring ‘new products’ speed to market.

Last year the service was going to the fair entry and thereby to raise 300 million euros. However, this plan was postponed due to ‘market conditions’. Deezer at that time would have had 6.3 million paying members. How much that there are now, is not known. Spotify has more than 20 million paying users, the largest provider of streaming music.
