Deliveries Microsoft smartphones despite plunging release Lumia 950 series

Microsoft did last quarter Lumia three-quarters less than in the same period the year before. In addition, the company notes that it is still with unsold stocks. It went well with the revenue from the Surface line of products.

Deliveries of Lumia’s stood at 2.3 million copies, true that in the same period last year was about Lumia’s 8.6 million. Revenues from smartphones 46 percent lower, evidenced by the quarterly figures . It can be deduced that the average selling price rose a Lumia.

Microsoft CFO Amy Wood furthermore notes that the “channel inventory,” the stock of smartphones that have made but not yet delivered, is relatively high. Therefore, the financial director expects an even sharper decline in revenue from smartphones in the coming months.

The decline is striking, since Microsoft last year released the Lumia 950 and 950XL, besides the cheaper Lumia 550. The new line of Windows 10 mobile models still do not have a positive effect on deliveries. Microsoft attributes the decline in sales of the entire group mainly to declining revenue from smartphones.

The release of the Surface and Surface Pro 4 Facebook last fall have had a beneficial effect on sales of Surface products. Which increased by 61 percent compared to the same period last year to $ 1.1 billion from one billion.

It went relatively well with the PC division of the group. Sales fell two percent, but according to Microsoft it is therefore better than the market as a whole, which dropped more. That’s according to the company primarily through the sale of more expensive laptops with Windows.

Revenue rose 6 percent from gaming, despite the drop in revenue from hardware. This is mainly due to the decline in sales of the Xbox 360, soon out of production goes , and the lower price for the Xbox One.

Revenues from Office 365 and Office rose by 7 per cent and there are now more than 22 million subscribers for Office 365. Windows 10 has 270 million users. The best went with Azure, Microsoft’s cloud platform. Sales increased there by 120 percent and was first over ten billion dollars. In total, Microsoft amassed $ 20.5 billion in revenues and earnings were $ 3.5 billion.
