Dell brings Ubuntu version of the XPS 13 in Benelux




Dell has the Developer Edition variants of the XPS 13 Laptop put online in the UK. The cheapest version with Ubuntu costs the same as the Windows version, but the Linux laptop has thereby double capacity storage.

The cheapest version costs in the Dutch and Belgian webshop Dell 1249 euros. That’s for the XPS 13 with Core i5 of the Kaby Lake-generation, an i5-7200U. The memory is thereby 8GB LPDDR3 at 1866MHz. The storage of the cheapest Ubuntu version is a SSD with a capacity of 256GB. The Windows version of the same price the same specs but a 128GB SSD.

The most expensive version with a Core i7, 16GB of memory and 512GB storage costs in the Ubuntu version 1659 Euros and in the Windows version 1699 euros, according to the website of Dell. The manufacturer Ubuntu 16:04 on the laptops, the latest version of the Linux distro.

Compared to the previous Developer Edition of the XPS 13 Dell has the next update to Kaby Lake processors more changes. So Dell has a Killer 1535 Wireless AC adapter inserted into the laptop to connect to wireless networks. Furthermore, the manufacturer, the battery capacity increases in the XPS 13 52Wh in the 2015 version to 60Wh in Kaby Lake variants. That should according to the manufacturer produce the maximum battery life of 13 hours at + variants with QHD screens and up to 22 hours with full-HD screens.
