Dell has codenamed Sputnik 3 are running Ubuntu Developer Edition XPS 13 ultrabook renewed. The laptops are equipped with full-HD 13.3 “touch screens and energy efficient Intel Haswell processors.
Dell released the second Developer Edition version of the XPS 13, which Ubuntu 12.04 LTS is installed along with some developer tools, early this year on the Dutch market. Meanwhile, Dell codenamed Sputnik 3 announced an updated version of the XPS 13 Developer Edition. The Sputnik 3 offers a full HD 13.3 “touch screen, while the previous versions still be missing. Touchscreen functionality default 8GB memory available. Ubuntu 12.04 LTS remains the default operating system.
The new XPS 13 Developer Edition models are equipped with energy-efficient Haswell CPUs from Intel. Dell offers two versions: a version with a Core i5-4200U processor, with a maximum clock speed of 2.6 GHz, and a Sputnik-3 model with a Core i7-4500U CPU which has a top speed of 3GHz. Both laptops, weighing 1.4 kg utilize the GPU capabilities of the Haswell processor in the form of Intel HD Graphics 4400. Furthermore 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 are present.
The XPS 13 model with the Core i5 processor in the U.S. costs $ 1250 and comes with a 128GB SSD, while the $ 1549 cost-Core i7-version offers a 256GB SSD.
