Denuvo will focus on anti-cheat software

for games
Irdeto’s Denuvo announces Anti-Cheat, software designed to prevent gamers from cheating. The software would, among other things, use machine learning to recognize and prevent cheating.

According to Denuvo , cheating in games is a growing problem that costs game companies turnover because irritated players seek refuge elsewhere. The company’s Anti-Cheat software would prevent cheaters from manipulating code to gain an advantage over other players.

The technology uses “the latest hardware security features from Intel and AMD, supplemented by machine learning from game-agnostic process metrics to prevent false positives and provide maximum detection,” the company said. Denuvo does not report how it works exactly, but the technology would have no impact on the gameplay and the work of the developer. The technique would hook in on the binary and not on the source code, nor would any apis or sdk’s be needed.

Anti-cheat technology is on the rise and Denuvo is trying to tap into this market. Last year Epic Games bought a company that develops anti-cheat techniques and Valve has its own Valve Anti-Cheat, which also uses machine learning. Denuvo is particularly known for his drm for games, which is not equally popular with everyone because of the negative impact on games and systems. At the beginning of last year, Denuvo, originally from Austria, was taken over by the Dutch company Irdeto.
