Details of Intel NUCs with 28W processors and Iris Plus 655 GPU appear

Intel comes with three NUCs that are equipped with a 28W processor. They all have an Iris Plus Graphics 655 GPU on board with 128MB edram. There are versions with a Core i3, i5, and i7 and the first two variants also come out as a separate motherboard.

The arrival of the new NUCs appears from information that FanlessTech has put online . There are five models on the slide, but it actually involves three versions and two variants as separate motherboard. Manufacturers can make a small PC themselves based on the individual board.

The NUC8i7BEH is the new top model, with a Core i7-8559U. This includes the NUC8i5BEK, with a Core i5-8295U. Both processors are quadcores with HyperThreading. The Core i7 model goes up to 4.5 GHz and the maximum clock speed of the Core i5 is 3.8 GHz. The NUC8i3BEK is the cheapest variant and that includes the Core i3-8109U, a dualcore with HyperThreading with a turbo speed of up to 3.6GHz.

Intel announced the 28W processors in the new NUCs in April. The so-called Coffee Lake U processor are variants of the 15W laptop processors of last year, but more powerful. Because they have a higher tdp they can probably work longer on a high clock speed and they also have a GPU on board that is more powerful. In all cases it concerns the Iris Plus Graphics 655, which has 48 execution units and is equipped with 128MB edram.

There will be space for a 2.5 “SSD or HDD in the cabinets and there is Intel Optane support, the size of the NUCs is 117x112x51mm, when Intel releases the new NUCs and what they are going to cost is not yet known.
