Details on Intel’s next generation 14nm Atom published




An Asian website details posted on Intel’s new platform for Atom systems. The Lake Apollo platform is provided on 14nm production Gold Mont-cores, combined with a solid GPU to soc.

The site is only one slide showing the building blocks of the Apollo Lake-I-soc. It shows that the SOC is composed of four Gold Mont cores: these are x86 cores that are produced in 14nm and feature a duo of 1MB L2 cache.

The Gold Mont cores can, like Skylake processors, either through a DDR3 or DDR4 controller communicate with economical memory. The graphical calculations are charged to eighteen execution units of the ninth generation of Intel processor graphics taken.

Furthermore, the soc include includes USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports, four PCIe lanes and two SATA controllers. The two HDMI controllers can handle the HDMI 1.4b standard and there is also an EDP controller for a third screen. While HDMI 2.0 support is lacking, the tablet socs should still support 4K screens.

The Gold Mont-generation Atom procesors get a new architecture. The foregoing Airmont-Atoms were the 14nm shrink of the 22nm Silvermont cores. The Gold Mont Atoms should appear on the market in May 2016 and would be the Bay Trail I-generation socs must follow.
