Develop Studio uses new engine for next Doom game




Development Studio id Software will be the next game in the Doom series with id Tech 6, a new version of its own engine. That the company has announced at the annual QuakeCon fanbeurs.

The new version is the successor of id Tech 5, the engine that id Software used for Rage. After the departure of John Carmack at the studio, the development of the engine under the guidance of technical director Patrick Duffy. The company made no technical details are known about the new engine.

The game will not be called Doom 4, but simply Doom. The new game is id Software’s own words “back to the beginning of the series.” Doom not only for Windows but also for One Xbox and PlayStation 4 appears, the game would also run in 1080p at 60fps. Whether that resolution and framerate on all three platforms achieved, the company said no. A release date is not yet known.

The development of Doom does not quite go according to plan. The development studio announced the game in 2008, since Zenimax Media, the parent company of publisher Bethesda, the studio bought up in 2009, it is still around the game. In 2011 the new owner intervened at id Software and contributed the development studio to begin again.
