Developer makes iPhone a scale via 3D Touch

Apple has integrated a touch screen on its new iPhones that could discern how much pressure is being put on. This brought a developer on the idea to use this technology for the construction of a weighing scale.

A developer using the pseudonym Flex Monkey explains on his blog how he made scales of an iPhone. He calls himself the plum-O-Meter, because the concept in particular to serve as a way to weigh the plum is heaviest, says Flex Monkey. The developed tool works as follows: there should be two plums are placed on the touch screen, and with a circle indicates which of the two is heavier.

Because the pressure measuring capabilities in the iPhone are not limited given how heavy the plum placed on the touchscreen. Instead, the software shows the normalized pressure as a percentage of the maximum pressure. The 3D touch technology that Apple has built into its new iPhones is actually meant to distinguish three different levels of pressure, according to a touch of the user.

It is of course also possible to use other kinds of fruit, or other attributes, to be used on the scale. Who was planning grapes has to be weighed But bad luck: according to the author are that light weighted by the Plum-O-Meter to be. The source code for the software is by Flex Monkey on GitHub put, but an application in the App Store is not there yet.
