Developers bring elementary OS ‘Loki’ out




The developers of elementary OS, the stable version of Loki, version 0.4 of the Ubuntu-based operating system, released. The new version has improved stability, increased its security and add new functionality.

Loki Elementary OS is based on Ubuntu LTS 16:04, which predecessor was built around 0.3 Freya Ubuntu Ubuntu LTS 14:04. The developers of the OS to have their own say working on the update a little over a year. Loki has been equipped with new indicators, audio, networking and Bluetooth.

The software now displays the battery status for accessories like the mouse and keyboard, and a list of apps that draw heavily on the consumption retrieve. There is a notification center, with do-not-disturb toggle. The menu system setup has been enhanced search and display network settings is simplified, with options for cable and wireless connections, hotspots, proxies and VPNs in a single view.

When Loki is elementary OS Extended with Parental Controls, which include administrators can set a time limit for use. There is also a new browser, Epiphany, which is based on WebKit2, and the developers client Geary adapted and implemented as simply Mail. Finally, the system is equipped with an app store.

The full list of changes can be seen in the blog section of the developers. Elementary OS tries to distinguish itself from other Linux distributions with a streamlined user interface. The appearance of the software is similar to that of MacOS.
