VMware has employees in the “Hosted UI’ team sacked. The layoffs are part of a larger restructuring the company to implement. The purpose of the restructuring is to bring the cost down of the company.

A blog from a former employee of VMware, Christian Hammond mentioned t that the entire team responsible for, among other Fusion and Workstation has been fired. He himself had left earlier with VMware. In total, the company will be eight hundred jobs have to disappear.

Hammond says in his blog to suspect that the dismissals are possible because the software has produced less money than hoped and has become less and less relevant. Opposite ArsTechnica says a spokesman VMware Fusion and Workstation will continue to support.

VMware is part of EMC, but operates as an independent company with its own shares. Nevertheless EMC owns or approximately 80 percent of VMware. Dell announced in October 2015 to buy EMC, which also takes over the majority of VMware.
