Development round-up – Iteration # 64

Who often reads our development articles, felt it coming: a new release. We work within our scrum process with iterations of three weeks and so we have new code put online. This time we have solved some fifty tickets, slightly less than normal. This is partly due to the departure of a developer. We are also looking hard for a new colleague .

Adjustments PriceWatch

In PriceWatch we have made several improvements. So we modified the format of the filters, so there is more space inside now to show the filters. In addition, long filter names are no longer truncated, but run them through to the next line. By truncating the fact that sometimes occurred with the same filters for loop name could not be distinguished from each other. Another change in the Price Watch is that we have a ‘yes / geen’ button added to the filter brands. Through the Forum has made it clear to us that it is a need.

Filter Changes

Community Block on the homepage

On the homepage we have provided the community block of a makeover. For example, the highlighted content is no longer in the same list, but is split into three sections: ‘Featured users reviews’,’ Now on the forum ‘and’ Popular tweak blogs. As the picture below shows mainly benefit the users reviews more justice.

From the community

All reviews show on product performance

For some product categories it makes sense to show a product version in the review summary also the reviews of the other product versions of the same product. Tablets for this category we have now also done on a trial basis. See for example the Samsung S Galaxy Tab 10.5 “WiFi White , which also displays reviews for the bronze. In the future, this will perhaps be extended to other categories. Of course, we hear your comments and suggestions and do in this topic .

Video Platform Upgrade

For uploading, transcoding and video playback, we use the video platform StreamOne . This has released a new version and to be accompanied to upgrade we had to make several changes in our own code. This Monday we put them in a separate release. At present it has no visible changes resulted, but it offers us opportunities to develop new functionality. Further, once new (read: faster) servers in use.

In this iteration, we applied various SEO enhancements. Additionally resolved a bug that meant that some users reviews unfairly ‘had not gepubliceerd’ status. We also have on the forum link ‘Reset session time’ renamed ‘Reset last visit time.
