Whore of the Orient, the game where former employees of Team Bondi started working after LA Noire, probably not come out. The conclusion of game studios and publishers problems seem to be the final game to have cost the head.

The news appears from an interview with Derek Proud, former producer of the game. At the table in the podcast GameHugs tells him that he and his team “fought” to allow the development to go, but that ultimately it should not be. He and other colleagues were in their own words passionate about the game, but eventually it thinks Proud Whore of the Orient will never see the light of day. Australia’s Finder has a short transcript recorded the conversation.

In 2011, shortly after the release of LA Noire of Australian development studio Team Bondi, the studio began Whore of the Orient. However, in that same year was the studio closed are. Some of the workers, including studio head and LA Noire writer Brendan McNamara decided to switching to film and television production company Kennedy Miller Mitchell and the rights to the new game purchase . Workers set up by Kennedy Miller Mitchell a game studio and received another $ 200,000 in 2013 from the Australian government to continue the project. At the time was still confident that the game was in development. Since then it has been quiet and now seems therefore to be definitively no longer the case.

The game would take place in the Chinese city of Shanghai in the 30s. Whore of the Orient was one of the nicknames for the city in that time. It got this nickname when trade not only prosperity in opium, tea and porcelain, as well as crime and immorality brought to the city. Players would assume the role of a Western policeman in Shanghai trying to keep the peace while there were many tensions in the political field by coincidental influences from the west and the east. The game would receive an open world and play for Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
