Discovery application for Android users collect data secretly and sold




Revealed the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) about a free application for the Android system violates the privacy of its users to collect their personal data secret and as partners with other parties without their consent.

The u.s. Federal Trade Commission has received a complaint that the Brightest Flashlight application, developed by GoldenShores, violates the privacy of its users, to investigate the complaint and find out.

The Committee pointed out that GoldenShores violated the privacy of users of its Brightest Flashlight application, through data collection and site for millions of users taking advantage of the powers conferred upon approving the applications installed.

The u.s. Federal Trade Commission, in a statement , the data gathered from the application were sold to ad networks and companies without the consent or knowledge of the users.

Brightest Flashlight application is used, which allows the user to control the sources of light in the its operating system Android and convert Flash projector lamp for lighting, more than 50 million users, is available free on the app store Google play. ”

Said Jessica rich, Director of the Bureau of consumer protection at the Commission, the application let users in “darkness” about how to use the information collected about them, adding that application developers — especially free-they provide options for users to which approval or refusal to share their data.

The u.s. Federal Trade Commission has confirmed that it has reached a settlement with GoldenShores that bdaror gives users more control over what happens to their data collected through applications that they develop.

The settlement deal between GoldenShores and American Committee also included the deletion of all the data collected by the application of the Brightest Flashlight, adding to the privacy policy of those applications to illustrate how the company dealt with data users of their applications.
