Disney gets patent search engine that makes illegal content untraceable
Disney has been patented technology for a search engine to ensure that illegal content is not discoverable. Websites are ranked according to their “authenticity” and that should ensure that users are less likely to join piracy websites. Care
TorrentFreak discovered last week that a patent has been assigned to Disney describing online content ranking. It works with a so-called authenticity index; websites are ranked by looking at certain measures of ‘authenticity’, so for example, piracy websites with illegal content much less be graded.
The main purpose of Disneys search engine is filtering out unwanted search results, giving priority to piracy. Disney has an interest in that illegal content is difficult to find, since self copyright holder for many movies, games and other content. Is The search engine displays include a higher valuation of official websites when searched on content: the website of Disney will for example be high in the search results when searching for a movie where the company owns.
