DisplayLink shows retransmission 5k resolution on your average USB cable

DisplayLink held a demonstration at CES which was sent a 5k video signal over a normal USB 3.0 cable. According DisplayLink technology is particularly useful to connect laptops to 5k monitors.

During the demonstration DisplayLink used a UltraSharp UP2715K 27 “monitor from Dell, so writes TweakTown. This screen offers a resolution of 5120×2880 pixels. A Microsoft Surface Pro III was via a USB 3.0 cable connected to a docking station DisplayLink. This was 5k reconnected to the screen.

According DisplayLink shows showcasing his 5k technology that also laptops that standard can not handle very high video resolutions through its docking station so a screen with a 5k resolution can control. The manufacturer has developed its own chipset. When it becomes available in specific products is not yet known.
