Dutch consume less data for the first time over 3G

Last quarter, Dutch for the first time less data over 3G consumes than the previous quarter. Consumption over 4G or rose, with over a petabyte. According to figures from the Authority’s Consumer & Market.

The decrease in 3G data volume amounted to 717 TB last quarter. This is evident from the Telecom Monitor ACM. is not clear why the decrease is caused. The ACM speculates that data usage in the fourth quarter just was relatively high, due to actions of providers in that quarter. The coming quarters will show whether the decline continues.

The increase in 4G consumption is leveling off: last quarter verstookten Dutch mobile online is still more than a petabyte more than in the fourth quarter of 2015, but in previous quarters, this was a growth of three to four petabytes. KPN is responsible for the largest share regarding data usage 40 to 45 percent. Last quarter was the proportion according to the figures of the ACM still 35 to 40 percent. T-Mobile and Vodafone both take 20 to 25 percent of the data usage on their behalf.
