Dutch Power Cows are preparing to pasture World Community Grid

The Dutch Power Cows are preparing for the annual Stampede. In this fifteenth edition members Gathering of Tweakers put the power of their systems for the World Community Grid, a grid for various research projects.

On Sunday, May 1st launch the Dutch Power Cows Boinc the clients required to contribute power to the World Community Grid. The aim of the ‘cow’ is to score as many points a month in the project, the teams hold the top position in the global rankings. At the same time science is there to benefit.

World Community Grid is in fact an overarching initiative for distributed computing, which includes numerous subprojects for research involving complex calculations to be performed. At present there are six: Help Stop TB (Tubercoluse) , Fight AIDS @ Home – Phase 2 , Outsmart Ebola Together, Uncovering Mysteries Genome , Mapping Cancer Markers and The Clean Energy Project – Phase 2 .

Anyone who wants to graze, and so wants to help science and distributed computing team GoT one hand, the Boinc client can intstalleren and register at the WCG. Joining the “Dutch Power Cows” can be done by ‘Join Team’ click on the team page. Then, participants can select one or more of the above projects. On Gathering of Tweakers give promoters explanation about participating in sub-teams and displaying statistics.

Dutch Power Cows logo (small) The Dutch Power Cows is a Dutch team for distributed computing launched on October 12, 1998 by some members of Tweakers. In the past, DPC was notorious for his megaflushes until it was banned because the stats servers threatening to become overloaded. Then the team decided to spread out over a few days as much as possible to score points, following inter alia the team Ars Technica. Since then, fourteen stampedes organized, all on different projects. This edition will be the first in which a previously chosen project is assailed: stampede number eight also concerned the World Community Grid.
