Dutch scientists find way to produce graphene easier

Researchers from the University of Groningen found in his own words in a way that brings the application of graphene in electronics closer. By producing graphene on copper oxide would scale in production should be easier.

In their research made scientists use of copper oxide as a substrate to produce graphene. Many research groups make proper use of “ordinary” buyer in order to deal with graphene, but the oxidised form, according to the researchers is more suitable to use as a substrate because it has the potential to make the properties of the produced graphene intact.

In about three years, a method has been developed to produce graphene with copper oxide as a substrate. The success ensures that scale comes into view: the finds could be replicated by others, the method could perhaps be industrially applicable. However, the “growth conditions” yet to be optimized, said the scientists.

The study looks at a method recently TU Delft published . In experiments, a gas mixture was passed over copper. With this method of producing graphene could be the price by a factor of a thousand down, the researchers said.
