Dutch security company: Yahoo stall malware – update

Through advertisements within the webmail service Yahoo Friday malware is distributed, as found employees of the Dutch security Fox-IT and SurfRight. Banners advertising network Yahoo refer users to a exploitkit.

Fox-IT found malware on the domain ads.yahoo.com allowing users of Yahoo’s webmail service were presented with malicious software, so says Ronald Prins, co-director of the security company. He promised that his company would come up with more details later, but Mark Loman of SurfRight released shortly afterwards for more information on the malware out.

It would be a part of the Magnitude exploitkit, according exploited security vulnerabilities in Windows, Internet Explorer and Java. Details on the kit and used the malware files are now on VirusTotal. Most anti-virus software detects the malware now.
