Dutch smartphone users rely most on iDeal




The iDeal system of banks has become the most used checkout experience as Dutch buy something on their smartphone. More than a quarter of transactions go through that system and that share is growing.

About 1.85 million times Dutch have a transaction done in 2014 on their smartphone with iDeal, can be deduced from figures of Thuiswinkel.org. In the same period went up 1.6 million transactions through a credit card. This is iDeal in 2014 the most common payment method of smartphones. In the second half of 2014, the percentage of the mobile transactions increasing.

Despite this, only one in twenty online purchases of Dutch place on a smartphone. The vast majority of purchases, about 78 percent done via a laptop or desktop. It involves almost 100 million transactions. In total, about 127 million times Dutch bought something online in 2014.
