Dutch working on mechanical keyboard with analog input
The Dutch Wooting demonstrates Wooting One, a mechanical keyboard with analog input, in order to precisely measure how hard the user presses the keys. That should especially come in handy for gamers.
Thanks to the analogue input gamers with Wooting One keyboard as accurate as walking or driving with a controller that provides analog sticks and triggers. Pressing soft or hard, for example, the speed of the character in games adapted as The Witcher. In particular, the send in racing games will be much more accurate than with the use of a keyboard that has only digital input.
For now, the Wooting One still a prototype and it is not known exactly how the keyboard works. The authors, in their own words a group of gamers who want to make gaming more awesome, giving not much information about the underlying technology. However, they emphasize that the software is very important. The keyboard’s memory so settings are saved and can be transferred to another computer.
The keyboard would not only force with which a key is pressed can translate into action on the screen, but also the speed. This should make it possible to connect different actions to the different speeds with which a button may be pressed. Wooting wants users through software offer the possibility to create analog functions.
The Wooting One is a tenkeyless keyboard without numeric keypad. The makers say that choice to have made so that the keyboard is compact, for example at LAN parties takes up little space on a table. The keyboard is equipped with RGB lighting, and users can set the color of choice in software. The LEDs also make it possible to give visual feedback of the analog input; so the lights could be brighter for example, when the user presses harder. The cable can be disconnected from the keyboard and has a micro-USB connection.
According to the inventors the Wooting One is not only interesting because of the analog input, but it is also a mechanical keyboard with good features. Which switches are used is not known, but claiming the makers ‘something better’ to have than what is usual. They indicate to worry about this later released. The upper plate of the keyboard can be replaced, so that the color can be tailored to the tastes of the user and the used keys.
When the keyboard actually reaches the market and at what price is not yet known.Viewing:-98
