DxO Optics Pro – what’s new in version 9
Appendix: DxO Optics Pro | 99 evro/199 euro | For OS X
Not so long ago, I wrote about the program DxO Optics Pro , which offers a radically different approach to image processing than Lightroom or Aperture. I really liked the program and the convenience and results. DxO Labs developers recently unveiled a new, ninth version, which is a paid upgrade. What the developers are going to surprise people?
For starters, I would recommend you check out my previous review, in which I talked about what DxO Optics Pro is different from other programs to work with digital negatives in terms of interface and implementation approaches of different instruments of correction.
Under this name hides a new algorithm for noise reduction. The main problem of most of the “shumodava” consists in the fact that they often zamylivat image, transforming it into a plastic and devoid of texture and contrast. PRIME analyzes the RAW files to detail than competitors algorithms (data of each pixel are analyzed to hundreds of neighbors), this allows you to select similar data in the figure and thus recover data lost when the anti-noise.
Such a complicated algorithm can be used with a large noise reduction intensity, while maintaining detail and texture. The price for this is a big waste of time for images with a higher resolution PRIME can work a few minutes. For convenience, the noise suppression panel now has a separate “window” in which you can select a small portion of the image and see how the “squelch” work on it, it can reduce the wait time. Also available is the “classic” algorithm used in previous versions of the program. Programmers DxO finalized and included in his Optics Pro version 9. It still works fine in most cases, except for the most neglected, it can in many cases reduce the processing time by a simple algorithm.
DxO Smart Lighting
Imagine a very contrasting landscape. For example sunrise over a palm grove, or a lone light in the bushes at dusk. When we examine these scenes eyes, they adjust to the lighting, changing the diameter of the pupil. This allows us to easily see and bright and dark areas. Matrix cameras, even the best, have no such luxury, and therefore the right to pass such a landscape often not capable of, what to speak about the cameras are simpler, with less high dynamic range. In most cases, you will get good items, or in the shade when illuminated bright areas, or vice versa, the details in bright and very dark parts of the shadows.
Often help in such cases comes technology HDR. The camera takes several shots with different exposure settings and then in a special program you can combine them into a single image, which will be well developed and the light and dark areas. But, first, is not always possible to make several identical images (eg in fast motion in the frame), and secondly received HDR images are often beautiful, but not always convey the real situation in the frame.
Умное освещение 1
That’s why DxO Labs, using their experience with thousands of cameras and lenses, have developed the technology Smart Lighting, allowing “extract” from the RAW file as much information.
Умное освещение 2
This instrument was popular in previous versions of DxO Optics Pro, version 9 has been significantly modified. Complementing its redesigned instrument exposure compensation. Together, these two settings are very capable of many things, starting with the restoration of photos, in which there is no information about colorimetry and ending with the creation of images that are close to the HDR on the basis of a digital negative.
It is worth noting that a couple of these tools work intelligently, almost unmistakable determining what to highlight or obscure, and that in real life looks black / white.
Saving skintones and natural colors
As I wrote in my previous review, DxO Optics Pro comes with a proprietary module rendering of colors, which offer a lot of customization options for all occasions. Among his options are options that emulate the real camera, various film and just abstract set of DxO Labs. Now to the last added one more option for the treatment of portraits.
This is a more gentle on those colors that are shades of human skin, and it provides a natural-looking portraits, vivid detail.
The interface of the program has been subjected to a mass of small, but necessary improvements. As a typical user OS X, I am pleased that DxO Optics Pro 9 tightened in accordance with the latest Apple, OS X, and it looks rather more native than even Aperture.
Processing undergone and the list of presets. Instead, the drop down list it turned into a full panel, which shows immediately scaled down, what will happen to your photo after the application of a preset. Useful in cases where you do not want to turn all the settings, but you want to get results a couple of clicks.
All of the settings panel appeared Help button that lets you quickly see what makes a particular controller. This will help especially novice users.
Changed and how to export. Previously, she stood a separate species, now you can export your work in any location by clicking on the button in the lower right-hand corner. It opens a window in which you select the desired export formats and settings, and then DxO Optics will do everything for you. There is a menu that allows you to export the image in another application or directly on Flickr.
In addition to all the above innovations, the developers have considerably increased the already considerable speed of the program for most operations, making the work enjoyable even for not-the-art computers.
If you do not use DxO Optics Pro before, the price of the full package will be for you 99 euros for the basic version and 199 for the “elite” (the latest version supports high-end cameras) as long as the special price. For users of previous versions of the discounts for the upgrade.
