EA puts own esports-division




Electronic Arts has begun its own esports division led by operational head of EA Sports, Peter Moore. This enters a market in which EA games are have already played a role, but the publisher yet.

With the introduction of EA’s own Competitive Gaming Division wants the publisher trying to set up global competitions including the FIFA, Madden NFL and Battlefield series. Through the introduction of the CGD EA tries in tapping into existing competitions for these games.

Battlefield 4, for example, has already present in esports by means of a League Sports Electronic-division. ESL One has to Battlefield 4 for the year 2015 had a prize pool of over $ 150,000. The competition aspect is central in these games and they lend themselves as such accounts for esports.

The decision to start their own esports division occurs EA in the footsteps of Activision Blizzard. Which in October had already announced to open its own division for esports. The esports market has in recent years become increasingly larger and attracts more attention from the public. To illustrate: in 2015 for the World League of Legends broke with 36 million viewers the old record with nine million.
