EBay said on Wednesday it would offer the same prices offered by competing sites for a number of popular products in an effort to lure consumers.

The announcement follows a series of initiatives by eBay to catch up with e-commerce rivals, and ultimately excellence to be a destination to find the best online products rather than commodity products.

Ebay, the first auction site on the Internet, is the intermediary between the seller and the buyer and the domain is open to anyone to display their goods for sale or purchase of goods.

In the fall of this year, Ebay plans to secure the delivery of tens of millions of items within three days, a logistical advantage currently only available to Amazon. The site will also depart from the essence of its previous work, which is to be dedicated to auctions, towards the sale of products at fixed prices in line with major retailers.

Ebay said he would ensure that about 50,000 new products on his Deals website would be available at least at a low price to compete with items sold at Amazon, Wal-Mart, Target and other e-shops.

“Consumers are still very conscious about prices,” said Hal Lawton, senior vice president for North America at eBay. “After 2009 and 2010, the value has become the strongest consideration for the place of shopping and what they buy, and this has not actually declined even though the economy has been strengthened,” he added.

EBay Deals accounts for more than $ 1 billion of the company’s total annual merchandise volume, the total value of all goods sold on its Web sites. The total volume of goods on her e-shop is $ 79.4 billion in 2016.
