Find a Question:
ECS makes overclocking on H87 motherboards possible
Motherboard Manufacturer ECS has a bios update for its motherboards released that overclocking is possible with all motherboards from the portfolio. Originally only one chipset suitable.
The Lynx Point chipsets, better known as the 8-Series chipset for Intel’s latest generation Core processors codenamed Haswell, consists of different models. The Z87 chipset is the top model and is suitable to overclock certain processors: the multiplier of the K processors is only with that chipset freely adjustable. With the other chipsets, like the H87 and H81 chipsets, that is not possible, according to Intel’s specifications. The Taiwanese motherboard manufacturer ECS has this limitation, however, circumvented and provides for all its motherboards overclocking capabilities with a new bios version.
For overclocking is still needed that permits a processor: Intel produces before the so-called K-series processors, which have an adjustable multiplier. The bios updates ECS can multiplier not only on Z87 motherboards, but also on H87, H81 and B85 motherboards are set. These signs are generally cheaper than the Z87 motherboards. Besides ECS also manufacturer Asrock recently announced setting the CPU multiplier support. on a non-Z87 motherboard However Asrock offers custom bios currently only for his Fatal1ty Performance H87 motherboard. Updates for other motherboards would follow. ECS H87-overklokViewing:-175
