Between all the other usual suspects like LastPass, 1Password or even KeePass is also Enpass a welcome guest on our side. Personally I have after all the years once the leap from 1Password on Enpass dared and am thus also satisfied: The software does what it is and is absolutely sufficient for my needs. Regardless of that, of course, every one from his favorite password manager says now the developers of Enpass have the latest beta 5.4.0 Variant for macOS published which again brings some interesting innovations.

Automatic backups are now on board as well as the fast unlocking of your password vault via PIN, but other things have been included in the current beta.

Now a backup of the own database is not the newest achievement – which I had for example also under 1Password from the start on board. If you take it also exactly, one had so far already the possibility, if desired, the local database with a Cloud service of its choice synonymous. Now, however, just added an integrated backup function, which can hold the backups of your vault still in any folder.

The second innovation is one or the other may have in Windows 10 use: Instead of entering the password for the vault when you unlock when Enpass runs in the background, one can choose a PIN – just like the Windows login with your Microsoft account, if Use the function. Depending on the complexity of the main password of your vault, it may or may not make sense: You have, of course, the choice whether to activate the feature or simply leave it on the left.

In addition, you have added the import function for CSV files: If this was still relatively easy, you can now add a little more with CSV imports and assign a little bit more during the import, as the following video shows :

Many other aspects of the beta version should at this point also be mentioned: It has the display of the password strength according Dropbox zxcvbn implemented. This will allow you to better illustrate the strengths or complexity of your passwords, as well as add more auto-lock features in the options compared to the current stable version: Enpass will be blocked, not only when the Mac is inactive or locked This can also be done, if desired, during the start of the screen saver or the fast user switching.

According to the developers, the possibilities for the organization of the individual passwords were improved and now also the possibility to create subfolders by right-clicking. If you also want to define the key combination for the automatic filling of the password in the browser, this has to do now – unlike before – independent of the app in the browser extension.

Those interested in the Beta to look again, this can here be downloaded directly from the developer side. As usual, however, it should be remembered that one or the other error may also sneak in here, even if this version is already quite advanced. Have fun!
