Enterprise simplifies Li-ion batteries for fast production
The American company 24M claiming the production of lithium-ion batteries to significantly accelerate and reduce costs by simplifying the batteries. The company deploys its semi-solid fat electrode and removes 80 percent of the inactive material.
Contains a conventional lithium-ion battery into the casing of the cell several layers of metal and plastic that are expensive and creates waste, claiming 24M . With its semi solid thick electrode, would be 80 percent of that inactive materials can be omitted. Maybe this would be the amount of active lithium ion can increase by a factor of five, says the claim .
Because the structure of the battery is simplified, production would be no more days to complete, as in conventional lithium-ion batteries, but hours. “Semi Solid lithium-ion does not bond, drying or recovery time, allowing all steps of the production process are eliminated,” says 24M. Even in the production of small amounts would be making lithium-ion batteries have been already cost-effective and the setting up of a production line might be at one-tenth of the current cost of a Li-Ion-line.
In order to simplify 24M brought the number of layers in the case of a cell back from 24 to 5. In addition, the company injects the electrolyte of a battery at an early stage in a cell rather than at later steps. This shortens the drying time considerably. The electrode makes the company four times thicker than normal, half a millimeter, increasing energy density. The first production machines should be available in two years.Viewing:-205
