EU and US reach agreement on data exchange for businesses
The European Union and the United States have agreed a series of changes to the Privacy Shield agreement. European member states expected to vote in early July on the implementation of the revised Privacy Shield.
In mid-April the group of European data protection authorities had to know that there are “major flaws” sit in the Privacy Shield agreement, though the group called “Article 29” positive about most of the contract. The working group had problems with the commercial part and the part about public safety. Biggest pain point was the ability to gather citizens’ data in bulk.
A change in the agreement include the US government to explain better when security forces of that country data in bulk collect and how the country ensures the security of the data concerned. Reuters has managed to figure out a letter to the director of the US National Security indicates how it collects information about the activities of a terrorist group in the Middle East that is thought to have those goals in Europe.
The service says in that letter that not collect any information from the world, the security of that country. A new privacy officer would be appointed by the US are going to deal with these complaints from EU citizens on espionage. The official would operate independently of the security services.
